Wellbeing at Our Nursery

Supporting children’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Encouraging healthy
eating habits and helping children learn about food from an early age not only protects their
health now, but also lays the foundations for lifelong wellbeing. A balanced diet and regular
physical activity are essential for children to grow, learn, and reach their full potential.

To ensure we provide the highest standard of nutrition, we follow the ‘Eat Better, Start
Better’ Voluntary Food and Drink Guidelines for Early Years Settings in England. These
guidelines represent the gold standard for early years nutrition and help us offer meals and
snacks that are balanced, varied, and developmentally appropriate.

Our approach to wellbeing goes beyond what is on the plate. We create positive mealtime
experiences where children can explore new foods, develop independence, and enjoy eating
together. We also integrate food education into everyday learning, helping children
understand where food comes from, how it grows, and why healthy choices matter.

Alongside nutrition, we promote physical activity, outdoor play, and opportunities for
children to move freely throughout the day. This supports not only their physical health but
also their confidence, emotional regulation, and overall happiness.

Healthy and WellBalanced Diet

At our nursery, we believe that a healthy, wellbalanced diet is essential to every child’s
development, wellbeing, and enjoyment of their day. All meals are freshly provided by Kidz
Clean Kitchen, ensuring that children receive nutritious, ageappropriate food prepared with
care. Our daily menu includes lunch and a variety of wholesome snacks to keep children
energised and satisfied throughout the day.

We actively encourage children to explore new flavours and textures, helping them build
confidence and curiosity around food. Introducing unfamiliar foods in a positive, supportive
environment broadens their palates and nurtures healthy eating habits that can last a
lifetime. To enrich their culinary experiences, our menus also feature international and
multiethnic dishes, giving children the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of tastes from
around the world.

Mealtimes are an important part of our nursery culture. We aim to create a warm,
familystyle atmosphere where children feel relaxed, valued, and included. Staff sit and eat
with the children, modelling good eating habits, table manners, and positive social
interactions. These shared moments help children develop independence, communication
skills, and a strong sense of community.

Special Dietary Requirements

We are committed to ensuring that every child in our care feels included, safe, and well
nourished. We understand that children may have individual dietary needs for medical,
religious, cultural, or personal reasons, and we work closely with families to accommodate
these requirements with care and attention.

Our catering team prepares tailored alternatives such as dairyfree, glutenfree, vegetarian,
halal, or other specialised options so that all children can enjoy meals that are both
nutritious and appropriate for their needs. No salt or excessive sugar is added to our dishes,
ensuring that every meal remains healthy, balanced, and suitable for young children.

We take allergies and intoler ances extremely seriously. Clear communication between
families, staff, and our catering service ensures that every child’s dietary needs are fully
understood and consistently met. Individual dietary plans are reviewed regularly, and all
staff receive training to follow them with diligence and accuracy.

Our aim is to create a safe, inclusive dining experience where every child can enjoy delicious
food with confidence, comfort, and a strong sense of belonging.
